IMO Wisdom would have been a better option than that.
Gomez in the little I've seen looks much better at full back than Wisdom

for me, i would like to see Andre say "no....i want a season here to prove myself" - had he done that last summer, then i suspect he would have got as much football playing for LFC as he did for WBA - particularly when we went to 3 at the back - he would have been ideal to play as RCB and that would have allowed Emre Can to play midfield.

Flanagan stuck around and got his chance when Brendan realised that Aly Cissoko and Jose Enrique were both ****e.......Wisdom should back himself to do the same......

Honestly I think some fans have a problem letting go. He's 22 and he's not really kicked on. It's fairly obvious he'll never make it here but some fans still want to hang onto the illusion he might make it. He won't. Another season on loan won't make any difference to his prospects here.

Borini did that last year and got dogs abuse for it. Didn't exactly help him did it?

Hopefully he either comes back & proves his doubters wrong or at the very least puts himself in the shop window for us to get a decent transfer fee.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I do like Wisdom but then Pulis who i would trust as a way better defensive judge than Rodgers didnt play him either.

                  there is a big difference.
borini came in as a 'proven' striker for big money. he should have been ready to play and be good enough. we needed to sell him on to recoup some big money, about 10m.

andre came in for little money and wouldnt be a massive drain on the club if he wanted to stay and prove himself.
i dont think he would get much game time but this depends on what happens with ilori, flano and maybe a couple of other players. im sure gomez will be staying and playing.

wisdom is just starting a new five year deal so even if he goes on loan again he still has time. many centre backs dont mature until into their mid 20s. its not just physical presence, its also game time experience/intelligence that is a major factor.

its probably better for LFC that he goes on loan and comes back a better player, but not a massive burden if he wants to stay and get the odd few games here and there.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Borini had 4 premier league games, 9 championship games, 24 Serie A games and a handful of cups games to his name when we signed him.

He was very raw and nowhere near being proven even at squad player level when we got him let alone being a proven striker.

I think people forget just how little he had played before we got him
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

still, 10.5m for a 21 year old. not exactly peanuts. not bought as the main striker, but obviously expected to be good enough to be the number two...

He's a 22 year old centre back, centre backs develop later than more attacking players, there are very few who establish themselves in a PL side at that kind of age, even less at the top clubs, if a couple of PL clubs are interested in him at least shows he is probably PL standard, there is still a big step to make it to the top level but he's moving in the right direction.

Lets see how he does this year if he can have a decent season as a PL regular who knows what will happen.

The Flanagan situation wasn't by choice though was it, I thought the club wanted to loan him out but there were no takers and he got his chance with us. True Wisdom may have got games as a RCB last season, or Rodgers could still have played Can there, and Wisdom could have sat on the bench all year. There are players who have stuck around too long an ended up moving to a Championship or lower league side. Going out on loan gives him an opportunity to show what he can do not just to us but to other sides should we choose to move him on.

Carragher wouldn't have got anywhere near our first team squad in recent years playing at FB (or many other PL squads for that matter) and was mid 20's before he got moved to his natural position in the centre.

If Wisdom's future is as a RB, he won't make it here, but if he moves back to the centre and performs how he did in the youth/reserve leagues, he has as much chance as any of te players currently ahead of him.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It is not as though Borini had much say in how much money was spent on him.

I agree that there is a difference between Borini at 22 and Wisdom at 22 in terms of experience/level of being proven, but it is in Wisdom's favour as he at 22 has more first team experience than Borini did at the same age.

And Wisdom at 22 has far more top league experience than Borini did at the same age.

The only thing that Borini beats Wisdom on is with his price tag and that is done to the club overpaying than any fault of Borini's.

Borini may not have made it with us and his career has certainly stalled badly, but him being a proven striker, based on price tag, when we got him is certainly not true.
