Liverpool kid Andre Wisdom was left without a loan move – after Glen Johnson picked up an ankle injury.
The England Under-21 defender was due to join Wigan before the deadline but worries over Johnson’s fitness put that on ice.
Latics chief Owen Coyle took Stoke’s versatile Ryan Shotton instead – and Wisdom’s other admirers were also put on hold.
Both Bolton and Blackburn made enquiries but may not be able to take him on loan for a couple of months.

It would be a blow if Johnson is out for a few weeks let alone months but:
1 injury ≠ mini crisis.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
