I think it's fair to say referees don't always add on all the time that's sometimes wasted in games, that's why i wonder if they should operate a stop the clock system as soon as the ball go's out or play stops.

That way everyone can see the exact time the game will end, no ****in about, no Fergie time.

I think it rarely happens, basically 90% of games have between 3 and 5 added mins, given that they are supposed to add 30 secs per substitution and 30 secs per goal, there is very little time added for time wasting or injuries (unless they are fairly serious).

The ball is in play something like 70 minuites on average during a game. That's a hell of a lot of stoppages.

Yeah, that's what i mean, the ref never gets it spot on imo, if someone else was in charge of the time, 90mins up on the clock, and every time the ball is out, or play is stopped then the clock stops, when play resumes the 90minute countdown continues, all in plain view of the crowd, the ball boy can sit on the ball for as long as he likes, the clock will be stopped, it wont be a case of the ref guessing, making a judgement on what is or isn't time wasting.

They do it in some sports.

Cantona was totally different he took a running jump at him and could have hit anyone or done a lot more damage. Hazards was stupid but at that velocity was never likely to cause much of an injury

Only reason I compared it was because its the only other thing that I can think was vaguely similar. Player kicking a spectator. Not really similar at all. But you get my gist.
