Agreed. With such tight funds we cannot afford to spunk £6m on a 19 year old who isn't going to play. We've already creamed £5m on Assaidi and Yesil - players who do not play. A further £6m would mean upwards of £11m spent on non-priorities.

Not good/strong enough on the floor at the moment to come straight into the team certainly how Rodgers wants his keepers to be a 11th outfield player.

Its nailed on that 1 of the big clubs will buy him and loan him back/out to someone else.

£11m, wow. That's what our rivals spend on one squad player. Pepe wil need to be replaced in the not too distant future I suspect so do we wait until that point and spend £10m+ on a proven keeper and put him straight in the first team with the risk that comes with it, or try and buy one of the best young gk prospects and have him ready when the time comes?

And Yesil is a kid, of course he's not playing yet.

I wouldn't be averse to that idea, but as you and also i have previously said, it's about money, and allocating what funds we have correctly and most urgently.

Then I think Reina will be moved on but sometimes a player can become stale or just need a fresh challenge.

I'd like us to sign him as an understudy. But not first team, I've only ever seen him play twice I think and each time he didn't really have much to do. People seem to rate him. Then again people seem to rate Phil Jones.

Rodgers clearly said we weren't after a keeper when spoken too. And this rumour was in the air before then.

If Butland is on the way in, Reina is on the way out. He's not coming as a number 2 after Jones signed a new deal. Bizarre.

That said, if Reina did go, I wouldn't be as bothered as I was 2 years a go. But I would be concerned about the replacement until I've seen how he settles.

I don't see the sense in this, either i) we are buying him as a back up or ii) we are signing him as a replacement for Pepe.

Firstly i) at the moment we aren't in a position to spend a significant amount of our transfer budget on a back up keeper however much potential he may have. ii) Replacing an (albeit off form) experienced keeper in Reina with a 19 year old is a huge gamble and we shouldn't be considering it.

Yeah, not adverse to this at all. He's more likely than not to be a great keeper in the future and Pepe'll cost a load more than 6 million to adequately replace. Get him in, get him tied down to a long term deal and get him out on loan. Hopefully in a couple of years it should be a straight swap between him and Pepe (assuming Pepe stops being **** in the the immediate future).
