Robben & Ribery are both very talented but inconsistent & Robben is injured so much. Robery has never lived up to the hype.Originally posted by fred_plasticine View Posti tend to disagree. robben is a one trick pony, constantly injured and living off a reputation gained in the past. ribery is great on his day but a moody, uninterested diva most of the time. müller and kroos are, well, meh. blowing hot and cold. being austrian, i'd say alaba is their best player
I like Muller and Kroos. Muller is bit awkward at times but has some engine and gets into great positions. Never be a world beater but decent player IMO. Personally i think Kroos is a fantastic talent, lovely footballer also only 23. Wee bit inconsistent alright though.
Alaba i agree is a fantastic talent

I honestly don't understand the shirt sales argument.Originally posted by Fivex View PostThis is ripe for trying to engineer a move similar to how we got ****ed with Cole and Aquilani.
That's worth a punt and if we're not even attempting it then we're fools. He's pay half his fee back in shirt sales anyway.
Surely if you want to buy a shirt you'll do so. You might then want to put a name and number on the back of it.
If you don't want to buy a shirt then you won't.
Are there really many people who aren't sure, but the signing of a particular player convinces them to do so because they can wear the name and number on the back?Oh I don't know.

I like Sneijder but even if he cuts his wage demands to let's say 125k per week he'd still cost us 26m in wages on 4-year contract + 6m in transfer fee, which is very high and very risky for a player whose production has been on decline over last 2 and half years with Inter (7 goals and 7 assists in 38 games in '10, 5 goals and 6 assists in 29 games in '11 and 2 goals and 0 assists in 9 games in '12 season).Originally posted by Fivex View PostThis is ripe for trying to engineer a move similar to how we got ****ed with Cole and Aquilani.

I just cannot see FSG ever go for a player like him.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Good theory but the main counter to that is it's a convincer for buying the 2nd/3rd shirt. People who only have the home shirt (named or otherwise) would surely feel more impulsed to buy another if we have a marquee signing.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI honestly don't understand the shirt sales argument.

Think plural rather than singular.

I'm not sure people go throhg that sort of though process, no
I do think it has an effect though, I'd think it works more subtly than that, similarly to aspirational advertising. When someone big signs, more people get more excited about the coming season for the team, so more people want to buy into it and be seen as associated with it in some way.Like blood on iron

Yes but we're not committing to that full amount if it doesn't work out and we get rid after a year. There will be a similar fee and someone will pay a decent wage no matter how much he flops, if he even does.Originally posted by Mostar View PostI like Sneijder but even if he cuts his wage demands to let's say 125k per week he'd still cost us 26m in wages on 4-year contract + 6m in transfer fee, which is very high and very risky for a player whose production has been on decline over last 2 and half years with Inter (7 goals and 7 assists in 38 games in '10, 5 goals and 6 assists in 29 games in '11 and 2 goals and 0 assists in 9 games in '12 season).

Say he signed for someone after a year on £80k for £6m, using those figures above we'd pay £6.5m in wages (easily got this free now), and we'd pay him £7m compo at full whack. There's a much lower financial risk in reality.Hello mert.
