Well if you declare you're interest in someone and he turns round and says 'Nah, mate, I'm going to Spurs', has he not turned you down? Whether we bid or not is kind of irrelevant.

It certainly will be an interesting summer for the club if we fail to get top 4.

Just because we're interested in a player and he decides to go elsewhere doesn't necessarily mean he turned us down. I'll give you an example. A couple of months ago the echo reported that we were interested in Bruma but were unlikely to make a move for him this summer. If Bruma now goes to another club does that mean he turned us down? If another club snaps up Big Pappa does that mean he turned us down too? I think not unless we have attempted to buy the player and he decides to go elsewhere ala Willian style.
