I thought Eriksen was more of a Coutinho type position?

Yeah a midfielder. Don't know much more than that. Never seen him play. He might be nothing like Gerrard either!!

Think we need some defensive signings, would like a new holding midfielder too (a bit like Masch) and also an upgrade on Downing. Think there will be another striker in too

An upgrade on Downing? So any attacking player with all four limbs

Liverpool 'target' Christian Eriksen holds talks with Borussia Dortmund.

Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen has revealed talks have taken place over a possible move to Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund.

The 21-year-old Denmark international has caught the eye of clubs across Europe with his performances this season, with Liverpool and Dortmund among those courting the player.

With just a year remaining on his contract, Ajax are set to cash in on Eriksen this summer and he admits he is tempted by a move to Germany.

"Dortmund are a club where I would like to play," he told De Telegraaf. "I think I would be a good fit there with the football there.

"Dortmund play nice, attacking football. The Bundesliga has never really been my preferred choice and a few years ago I would not even have considered it, but now I do.

"The competition is getting stronger and it is no coincidence the two Champions League finalists are German clubs.

"I know there has been contact between the two clubs, and both Ajax and Dortmund have already talked to my agent.

"I will consider all the clubs and quietly make a decision. I want clarity when preparing for the new season, that's the best thing - for everyone."

Eriksen is being lined up by Dortmund as a replacement for Mario Gotze, who will join Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Makes perfect sense him going there. He'll be brilliant for them. I don't think we were ever realistically going to go for him. Pipe dream. I thought he was going to be this summer transfer window's Juan Mata for us.

Eriksen wouldn't make sense given that we have seen cou's potential in the central attacking mid position. Even if he goes to BVB it's still a down grade on goetze imo, the latter is the better player and always will be, I think coutinho has more to his game than Eriksen, both great passers but the Dane doesn't take people on anywhere near as much.

A masch type would be brilliant, I'm not convinced Lucas/ gerrard are going to be right defensively for all the opponents we play. Hopefully a fit Joe Allen will help give us something different.

I don't think there is a midfielder in Europe who is as much of an all rounded box to box type as a prime Stevie g was, strootman is a bit more defensive like a van bommel.

If a top club want a top class talent or top class player then we simply more or less have no chance to get him.

Erikssen would be excellent in that current Dortmund side. Although he better be careful as they are going to get absolutely raided this summer IMO.
