Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has agreed a three-year deal with Turkish club Kasimpasa.

The 42-time Holland international re-joined Ajax in a surprise move last summer but failed to reignite his career at his boyhood club, managing just nine league starts as the Amsterdam side retained their Eredivisie club.

Babel arrived at Liverpool in 2007 to much fanfare but flopped on Merseyside and was shipped out to Hoffenheim in January 2011.

He disappointed at the Bundesliga club and was subsequently handed a switch to Ajax last year.

However, the 26-year-old will now look to get his career back on track in Turkey with Kasimpasa.

Chelsea have made an approach for Edinson Cavani, according to Napoli chairman Aurelio de Laurentiis.

New Blues boss Jose Mourinho has wasted no time in building his squad and has reportedly earmarked the Uruguayan forward as the man to score the goals.

However, they will have to stump up upwards of £50million for his services.

“Chelsea want Cavani,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte. “Blues will call me in the next hours about it.”

He added: “If Edinson stays in Napoli I will be happy. If he goes, we'll replace him using the €63million from his sale.”

Cavani has netted 102 goals in 124 matches for Napoli since joining three seasons ago.
