Chelsea have made a bid of £49.3m for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, 26, after the Italian club rejected a lower offer that would have seen Fernando Torres head in the opposite direction.

Napoli are determined that a release clause of £53m in Cavani's contract will be triggered before they let him go, and have been given a list of fringe players from Chelsea to choose from as part of the deal.

I'm not convinced Cavani should be a £50m player. He's good and he scores goals but I've seen him play terribly more often than not. He's not as good as Suarez for sure.

Yeah, he scores some worldies and has a great record for Napoli, but overall play, Suarez is 10x the player.

Haha love it. Didn't he demand £20m when he was at Blackpool? It's like Newcastle turning down £30m for Carroll, selling for £35m and then "baulking" when we ask for £17m. **** off you jokers

Lewandowski had appeared to be on the verge of completing his “dream move” to Bayern at the end of last week, but Dortmund president Hans-Joachinn Watzke is adamant they will not allow him to join their bitter domestic rivals.
“Lewandowski will definitely not go to Bayern in 2013,” said Watke in an interview with the German sports paper Bild. “This is final.” link
That may merely delay the inevitable as Lewandowski will be out of contract next summer and free to join Bayern then, but it could also give Manchester United renewed interest in the striker, one of the hottest talents in Europe.
United have previously expressed an interest in signing the Poland international, but the player appeared to be determined to follow his Dortmund teammate, Mario Gotze , to Munich.
Manchester City and even Chelsea may also look to exploit Dortmund’s reluctance to lose one of their best players to the side that beat them in both domestic and European football this season, most notably the Champions League final at Wembley last month.
