He's a bit of a throwback really - these days most strikers are expected to be able to play but he's an out and out goalscorer who seems limited in pretty much every other area. I do think he'll score a lot of goals for Arsenal.

If they wanted an out and out goalscorer then they should have signed up Mario Gomez. The best out and out goalscorer in the world.

I get that, but I feel we have more than enough youngsters currently. If we are serious about making top 4 this coming season then we should have the money to buy two experienced players the same age as Suarez for example.
Barca always had a good blend of youth and experience, which every team needs to keep challenging. We're just buying kids - cos they're cheap - and not realising the more we fall behind, the more our experienced players (Suarez and Reina) bang on about moving to a 'top club'.

Barca are telling Thiago to wait one more season and he'll be the main man in their midfield. He'd be better off going on loan somewhere. I bet United tapped him up a while ago though. Strange how there aren't more teams in for him. Quality player

            FOOTBALL
Spanish newspaper Marca say 21-year-old Malaga midfielder Isco would rather stay in Spain and join Real Madrid instead of a transfer to Manchester City.

"The player has an offer on the table from Manchester City, but he'd prefer to go to Real," said Marca. "His release clause currently stands at 35m euros, but this amount is open to negotiation."

"Isco seems to have opted to make Real Madrid his next stop. The player is closer than ever to Real."

Marca report that Real Madrid and Malaga are scheduled to have another meeting today in an attempt to agree a deal.

I'd laugh if he went there although a part of me - a very small part - was looking forward to seeing him in the Prem.

Sounds like it's not just our deals that are falling off a cliff.

Manchester City have refused to meet the 63m euros (£53.6m) buyout clause for Edinson Cavani, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has revealed.

Cavani, 26, scored 38 goals for the Champions League qualifiers last season, form which has seen him also linked to Real Madrid and Chelsea.

But City appear to no longer be in contention for the Uruguay striker.

"Manchester City have not the money to pay for Cavani, they say, 'We don't pay that'," the 64-year-old said.
"The Abu Dhabi [owners] have said they will never spend 63m euros for Cavani. They say, 'We can give other things', but they are not in the interest of our club."

Speaking at the unveiling of Rafael Benitez as the new Napoli head coach, De Laurentiis went on to say that Real are the only club to have made a firm offer for Cavani.

He added Napoli had "never received a call" from Chelsea about the player, with Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations cited as a barrier to any deal as the loss-reducing rules are "conditioning everybody" to not spend large sums on transfers.

Wouldn't pay 10m going my the way he played the other night.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle with Málaga over the signing of Isco. With the final details of the deal for the Spain Under-21 international awaiting completion, he will move to the Santiago Bernabéu on a five-year contract. This follows talks between Florentino Pérez, Madrid director general José Ángel Sánchez and Málaga director general Vicente Casado in the Spanish capital on Friday (the trio also met at the offices of the Bernabéu on 22 May) during which the player’s transfer was sealed for a fee of 30 million euros.link

I can't see them getting all 3 of them certainly without some major movements outwards as well.
