    Thiago Alcantara ‘rejects Manchester United offer to re-join Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich’

    Thiago Alcantara has snubbed a move to Manchester United in favour of linking up with old boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, according to reports.

    The Barcelona midfielder is also said to have rejected an offer from La Liga rivals Real Madrid, in favour of a switch to the European champions.

    According to Spanish radio station Cadena COPE, the 22-year-old was convinced to move to Germany following a phone conversation with Guardiola, where he revealed his plans to drop Javi Martinez to centre-back in order to accommodate Thiago’s arrival.

    Journalist Juanma Castano, said: ‘This is from a very credible source, a source that is, let’s say, directly linked to the footballer.

    ‘First, we have been told that Thiago Alcantara’s future is not at Barca. Second, we have been told the club he has chosen. The club Thiago has chosen is Bayern Munich.

    ‘There are various factors. There have been several offers on the table. From Manchester United and Real Madrid.

    ‘The bid from Real Madrid was rejected because Thiago does not want to close any doors on a return to Barca in the future.

    ‘Therefore the two offers on the table was from Bayern Munich and Manchester United. Thiago considered both closely.

    ‘Thiago knew that there were several players in his position, but was told by Pep Guardiola on the phone that he was moving Javi Martinez to centre back as Marcelo Bielsa did with him at Athletic Bilbao.

    ‘I’m being told that the deal is absolutely closed and can be confirmed in a matter of hours.’

      Still nothing from Bayern sources on Thiago Alcantara. I'd treat the story of him joining with extreme caution, to say the least
      Me personally, if I was Pep, I'd sell Ribery and buy Thiago.

          Well Pep has confirmed in a news conference that Thiago is the player he's asked his bosses to sign, the only player he wants.

          Utd can forget about it now

            Pep: "I want Thiago Alcantara. Have asked (Bayern to get him) Don't know what will happen".

            @honigstein 9m
            "I know him very well. I talked to Rummenigge and Sammer about him, we will wait and then see"

            @honigstein 2m
            "Don't think (adding another midfielder) will be a problem. I spoke to club about my concept and told them why I want Thiago Alcantara"

            @honigstein 1m
            "Thiago is the only player I want, that's what I told them"

            @honigstein 2m
            "It'll be him or no one"

            @honigstein 41s
            "We have many players but we the need the special (quality) that Thiago Alcantara brings"
            I'm not sure but I think Guardiola has confirmed that he wants Bayern to sign Thiago.

                And long may it reign!

                His buyout (€18M for this window only) is a very, very fair price for such a talented player. Opportunity to join the best coach in the world at the best team in the world coming off the back of a legendary treble-winning season and play with some of the best players in the world.

                Or, join United, play under Gollum and watch hopelessly as Fat Anderson humps the ball over his head for Rooney to chase like a fat horny jack russell.

                  Surely he knows that Moyes' preferred method is to bypass the midfield and launch it long from the back to some big lump up front or just off the front.

                  On that note, I'm surprised he hasn't gone for Fellaini.

                    He's far too busy trying to lowball Everton for Baines and probably working out where the stationary cupboard is so he can rob as much stuff as possible before they realise what a ****house he is and sack him.

                      Leaked minutes show commission and third-party ownership dramatically reduced amount the Brazilian club profited from the sale of their superstar to Barcelona

                      Santos were paid just over €9 million by Barcelona for the purchase of Neymar earlier this summer, according to documents which emerged on Wednesday.

                      The 21-year-old, who starred in Brazil's successful Confederations Cup campaign in June, joined the Catalans for €57m in one of the most high-profile transfers of 2013. The total outlay has been confirmed by Barcelona.

                      However, Radio Globo reporters were leaked minutes from a Santos board meeting which shed new light on the detail of the agreement.

                      According to the documents, Barca paid €17.1m for the full ownership of Neymar, though just €9.35m went to the Brasileirao club with two companies that owned part of his registration - Teisa Group and DIS - splitting the other 45 per cent.

                      The report also claims the remaining €40m was paid in commission to other parties, including Neymar's father, as the Camp Nou club fought off competition from rivals such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City.

                      Santos may receive more financial profit from the move eventually through arranged friendlies that the two sides agreed to, with the first on August 2 in Spain, and potential objectives for the forward to achieve which were included in the contract.

                      The documents also show that Neymar’s father wanted his son to depart Brazil ahead of the World Cup because he did not want him to become a "hero or villain" at next summer's tournament in the South American country.

                      The attacker, who has scored an impressive 24 goals in 39 Selecao appearances, will meet up with his new Barca team mates next week.

                        I know its all a bit messi in regards to his ownership and stuff. But I remember hearing last year that Santos were only paying around 15% of his wages. The rest was made up of sponsors and stuff.

                        So its hardly suprising how little they got in the end.

                          They bid £10m for Baines didn't they? I bet the Everton fans still love him though

                            £12M - the exact figure United bid previously and Moyes rebuffed saying something like it would take a lot more than that.

                              Southampton have completed the signing of Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, reported to be a club-record £12.5million.

                                Norwich have agreed a fee of 8m Euros for Alderweireld. Not sure why we aren't in at that price instead of Ilori.
