What a joke. I do realise that he has little choice but to go due to this third party ownership bull****, but he is one of the best finishers I've seen in recent times and he'll now be playing in an average league, on a **** pitch in front of a handful of fans. Must be all he dreamed of as a kid eh?

Mind you rather monaco than the back end of Siberia with half the other poor south american kids who end up there for ridiculous money. Football has become a horrible business in recent years, players in a lot of cases are no more than blinged up cattle being moved from ranch to ranch.

It is not really that mental. Monaco isn't exactly that big. You simply can't expand the stadium that much if not at all and to build a new stadium isn't an option because Monaco isn't that big.

The only way they can be a top club is the sugar daddy way.

FFP is fine if you have a big stadium and a lot of fans. If you don't have that then FFP stinks.

It's no more mental that Man City signing Agüero or Yaya Toure. Players will always go to the money.

Shame he is not playing in England, but I suppose that's probably a good thing for us.

Well their stadium can hold around 18000 ppl and the population of Monaco itself is only about 35k

Which still doesn't stand up, as I was referring to the fact its hardly the stuff of dreams to bang in the goals and celebrate in front of a splattering of fans rather than a stadium packed to the rafters singing your name. Top players should be playing for top teams in top leagues. Hardly comparable to man city Alex.

The ignored weekend question, merge f*ck-ups, now this. King Alex may as well give up.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

No, it's not the stuff of dreams. But neither was playing for Man City until 4 years ago. That's the comparison I was making.

People seem to think its stupid and money grabbing to play for someone like Monaco. But it's no different to City or Chelsea. 3rd party ownership doesn't come into it. He would have had a say in where he goes.

For what its worth I think he would had little say in where he went. He's owned and is merely a pawn in the grand scheme of things. I wasn't having a go at him for money grabbing, I just feel that given a genuine choice between city, chelsea or Monaco, most world class players wouldn't want to test themselves in the French league. If i were a player, a forward, i'd want a rapport with my home fans, when ive banged in an overhead kick, i want to celebrate with the throng of fans that wore a shirt emblazoned with my name, i want to hear my name reverberating around the ground. I wouldnt want my best efforts week in week out witnesed by a couple of thousand fans and a few millionaires taking a break from navigating their giant yacht around the marina quaffing on expensive champagne. Its bull****.
