Obviously a disappointment if we miss out on him given the rave reviews he's been getting. On a positive note, him signing would put paid to Coutinho getting much time through the middle, which is surely where his future lies. Let's see who we go for off the back of this - there's more than one way to add goals to the team! We could play Coutinho through the middle and sign another quality forward. There are plenty of top players available at the moment. Maybe a cheeky bid for Jovetic? Personally I'm pretty excited that we have as much as 25mil to bring in another attacking signing (if you believe the reports!) without selling Suarez. Lets wait and see who we're linked with over the next couple of days. We'll all have another player to fantasise over before we know it!K ris90210

If the third party ownership played a part then it wasn't up to HM who he signed for.
For all we know he may have had us as his first choice to get out of the third party ownership.
A bit like the Falcao case.Stop the cyberhate

Hope we stay away from both Eriksen and especially Ben ArfaThis Is Anfield @thisisanfield 5m
Back in March, reports claimed Eriksen, Ben Arfa and Mkhitaryan were 3 players #LFC shortlisted for AM position: http://www.thisisanfield.com/2013/03...s-this-summer/ …We come not to play.

Why the negativity towards Eriksen on here? Ok, so he's gone off the boil this last season, but a year ago he would have been a dream signing! The guy is still only 21! Tonnes of potential and available at a reasonable price. He'd be a very shrewd signing in my humble opinion. Could be got for maybe 10 million less than we were being quoted for Mkhitaryan. Money that can be put to good use elsewhere (defence).Originally posted by Imy View PostHope we stay away from both Eriksen and especially Ben ArfaK ris90210

Do agree about strengthening the defence (a centre back and left back needed), i'd prioritise a Lucas replacement/competitor.We come not to play.

I've never seen him be really brilliant but you make good points - only 21, maybe gone a bit stale, bundles of potential...Torres hadn't exactly set the world alight in the year or so before we bought him. Given how relatively cheap he seems to be I'd be all for it.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostWhy the negativity towards Eriksen on here? I'd never heard of him a few weeks ago so I'm struggling to give a ****. I will though if we don't sign someone class in that position, as it's clear BR wanted to spend £20m on the right player in that position, so he sees it as a big priority in delivering the side he wants.
Bit like I wasn't arsed that we didn't get sigurrdsson or Dempsey specifically, I was really annoyed that we didn't get an alternative to either when the deals fell through.

But..
We should be buying both, and keeping Suarez while we're at it, it's the quickest way back to the top imo.

I do hope that Michu is next on the list.
I doubt that Swansea would turn down a £20m+ bid and the player would probably not turn us down.
He is a player that we have a realistic chance to sign.Stop the cyberhate

Interesting. He'll score the goals Brendan is looking for...and his position is between the lines/attacking mid. Just somehow not entirely convinced. £20m would be too much for him.Originally posted by Arn View PostI do hope that Michu is next on the list.
