I don't get it. He's a high calibre footballer but why are some people ****ting themselves now that it looks like we missed out on him? We've already signed 4 players. And this one wasn't essential to the squad. It's not a big deal. Some of you are acting like this transfer is a personal affront.

So we should just risk the future of the club? I'm sorry I don't buy into that, be patient its not an overnight job we'll get there eventually but throwing money after money is too risky. Especially when you consider if we fail to reach 4th for 2 years after spending on a pretty unsafe financial footing we'd be ****ed.Originally posted by BrooklynRed View PostWhat is the alternative? No CL, no revenue increase, no players willing to join, remain in 5th-7th place? What is the debt of Manchester United? It's £370 million after a recent re-financing and they are publicly traded.
Decent model? Would you be happy with that debt and five titles in seven years? Because this and oil money oligarchs are with whom we are competing.
EDIT: Re United, we can't compete with them in terms of revenue so their debt isn't too relevant, they can service that debt pretty well and if they didn't have it they'd be a much stronger force.Vive la France

So far you can say that the squad is stronger but not the starting XI.Originally posted by Marina View PostI don't get it. We will continue to struggle against the top clubs if we don't have a stronger starting XI.Stop the cyberhate

But then #LFC put it on hold having lost confidence they could 'sell big' soon after 'buying big'.

It's hard to keep a hope when it's just 1% and #LFC doing nothing except for looking for buyers for Suarez.

I know everyone is disappointed but talk about hyperbole

of the players signed only mignolet is guaranteed 1st team football and maybe toure if we dont sign another centre back but overall the signings of aspas and alberto havent strengthened the 1st team because theyre bought at as squad players for now.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Suarez and Gerrard is probably the only two and we may sell one of them.
Agger may demand £20k or so more in wages, Coutinho and Sturridge the same.
Shouldn't really be a problem.

Kindred Spirits and all that.

For the money we were shelling out for HM, we might be able to get Eriksson and another Wanyama type player on lower wages which may improve our first team significantly.Originally posted by Mostar View Post
Young player with tons of potential.
Granted his participation for Denmark NT after the season ended was poor but he was very good for Ajax just before season finished and you do expect young players to show inconstistencies at that age.
Not only he would cost much less than Heno but he could fit very well in style of play BR wants to institute and I personally would be very pleased if we would sign him.

If Pepe stays I don't think Mignolet would be guaranteed a starting job.Originally posted by el matador View Postthis is right.

Personally out of 4, given our current squad, only Aspas would be a starter.

Get those 2 instead of HM and we would do very well.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Say that we had offered HM £200k a week instead of what we may have offered £100k a week. I doubt that we offered him less than that. If we would have offered him a deal.Originally posted by peekay View PostArn I think you should facebook friend this guy and try to get in touch with him.

That means £5.2m more a year in wages.
Then you add say £50k more a week in wages to Suarez and Gerrard.
That means £5.2m.
Then we offer say four players £20k more a week in wages.
£4.1m
In total 14.5m.
I doubt very much that the club would be in any risk at all.
Then you add one top class player on big wages a season.
Leeds did what we did and payed out massive wages to average players. Even the goldfish got £40 a week.
We would only pay out massive wages to our top quality players.Stop the cyberhate

I suppose it's a sliding scale of proptionality though. If you raise the bar at the top end you by logic have to at the bottom so the pretty decent squad player who would normally take £30k would expect £40k. The players on £20k, having seen everyone else get a raise, would expect one too. If you're going to throw caution to the wind with a pay structure and ONLY try to apply it to 5-6 players then you've got a pissed off dressing room, total lack of motivation and a ****load of money (because regardless of how anyone says it £14 million is a ****load of money) extra going out on wages.Originally posted by Arn View PostSay that we had offered HM £200k a week instead of what we may have offered £100k a week. The MLS allows for marque stuff like that but in the prem it would be a disaster. That's just my opinion though.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
