Yep. Was a striker for Sheffield Wednesday and England U21s, and is now a 36 year old left-back at Chesterfield.

He's replaced Clarke Carlisle as chairman of the PFA.

Did anyone hear about Martin Petrov? Currently playing for some Saturday Morning league side in Chorlton. Plays up front too

Think he is just getting fit before a move to CSKA Moskow, but its weird.

Edit: He plays for Torpedo Chorlton. Its the ex Man City player for any that dont remember. He is 34.

Haha! No way, they're my local side and their pitch is just out the back of my house. Haha. Gonna look up their fixtures and go and watch him on Sunday if they're at home

Just looked 'em up - he played his 2nd game for them on Saturday, just out the back, and scored his 2nd in 2 games as they lost 4-1.

They are at home again on Saturday. Hope he plays.

                haha amazing

i love hearing stuff like that

a lad i played footie with at uni - called me one sunday afternoon out the blue, been a few years since we last spoke!

but he had to call me....he'd just played against Chris Waddle in a Sunday league match

Waddle was playing centre mid, my mate was centre mid - my mate went in for a hard challenge, thinking he'd win the ball fairly but also nail waddle

Waddle just complete took the piss out of him, seen it coming sidestepped around and left my mate dumped on the floor.

Waddle also scored two free kicks, 35 yards out, just banged them top corner

Apparently he was a top bloke and both teams went back the pub together after the game and he got a round of drinks for everyone
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

i seem to remember Ruud Gullit when he retired, didn't he go back to holland and play for his local pub side....At centre back.....and was the leagues leading scorer

i've played against David Thompson in a charity match and played five a side against a team managed by Jan Molby

Take it that was in Sheffield? Know a few people who played against him. He played for a team in the Chesterfield & District Sunday League for a bit with some lads I know - Staveley Miners Welfare - before moving to a Sheffield side. He and David Hirst signed for them but I think Hirst packed in. Waddle still plays.

How does Danny Mills get on any sort of football commission? Totally bizarre. He was a dirty ****er as a footballer. If it's on the back of his presence on Masterchef that is a complete joke.

I guess it is due to his tactical analysis on the 5live commentary.

i think so mate - it was a few years back

i have two great 'random' football stories that i've probably told before.

1 - played footie at uni for a few years with Johnny Giles's son.....even better, his uncle won the world cup! Nobby Stiles

2 - a very good mate of mine is an ex pro - from peru - played for their 'good' under 21's side years ago, has played against Ronaldinho amonst others in a under 20's world cup, and one of his best mates is Claudio Pizarro

Funny how he can be so apt at the tactical **** on telly but was a total thug as a player. Maybe I need to drop my pre-conceived ideas of him and actually not mute him next time. So does he know his **** on football?

Not really but he is probably mates with Dyke or one of the others. Jobs for the boys and all that.

Dyke probably liked him on Masterchef. Just can't see how Danny Mills can improve the standard of english football going forward. Think some people are trying to be too clever with it. I can see the logic in getting Hoddle in though. He actually played good football and tried to get his teams to play it too. Danny Mills just went round getting red cards and taking players out
