They are excited because he's a big name and a genuine top shelf manager but I don't think Newcastle fans will like his style of football. I can see them tiring of him quickly unless he can win them a cup.

I'm amazed he's gone for this, especially considering that regime there. I'm sure he could have got a much better job in the summer and not had the headache of a relegation battle.

Not if his contract has a get out of jail free card. Its a win-win really. Keeps them up is hailed a hero. They fight bravely but go down it was always against him.

Reports have suggested he only signed his contract with stipulations, 1) that he would have a lot of control, something we all know Rafa needs and 2) If they are relegated he is released from his contract without any complications.

Yeah, it's been years since he had a big job.

Truth is it's win win for him, he gets paid either way, and he's doing what he loves doing, managing.

If he does well, he'll be as loved by the Geordies as he is by us. ( well, most of us anyway. )

Also, success is relative, win something like the Capital one cup and he'll be more famous to them than he is with us for making it 5 times.

I can totally understand why he'd take the job.

He doesn't give a **** what anyone says either, just refers them to his cv.
