With both Johnson and Cissokho there will always be times when they're caught up the pitch and the centre backs need to cover then, this is how Rodgers has set us up. We're an attack minded side that will leak a few more than say under Rafa but we're far more attack minded with it as well and if it's working as it should we'll out score most sides.

Em ... that makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever.

Johnson got dispossessed & caught out of position several times & Cissoko pretty much just lumbered along the whole game. Even when they weren't attacking they were getting caught out defensively. Although Cissoko wasn't as bad as Johnson IMO.

It does make sense, the side is set up for these eventualities regardless of how well the players in those positions are playing

No mate i'm not talking about the formation, it was not the fact that Johnson & Cissoko were caught out of position attacking . They were caught out of position because both had ****ty games.

Poor positioning aswell as that Johnson tried to dribble ball out of half several times & gave possession away a hell of a lot in key defensive areas, nothing got to do with attacking and being caught out (Although that did and will happen). Johnson sat off Kolorov the whole game and hardly closed down any crosses.. curious to know how many crosses Kolorov got in?

Cissoko was beaten 3 times in the first 5 mins by Navas. He wasn't eh worst but he is pretty poor and looked lost at times. Sakho bailed him out so many times in the first half... Sahko looked out on his feet after 70 mins too. Zabeleta actually gave Cissoko a worse time than Navas.

The sooner we get more quality competition in the fullback areas the better.

Engage your brain for a moment. Fullbacks push high up the pitch and central defenders split up to use the width, with Lucas sometimes dropping in the gap through the middle, which means that there will be space behind when we lose the ball. Emphasis is on possession and attacking.

Watched the game again this afternoon and we were totally dominant in the second half. I can't recall Cissokho getting done much at all during the match, bar that opening period when Navas was running havoc down that side.
              Are we winning?

I can't tell you how ironic that is coming from you Nigel

Cissokho wasn't terrible - I do think Sahko helped him out a fair bit though.
The times they are a changin'.

spot on .. he wasn't the worst but i can't fathom how anyone couldn't see how many times Sahko covered for him in the first half.

He was probably rusty in fairness, I thought he grew a bit into the game, I though there was much pressure on the fullbacks and they didn't really cope that well IMO. But then again City probably get some joy on the flanks against all teams.
                      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Him being rusty is a fair point .

He was better in the second half alright.. although as a team we were much better so wasn't much pressure on him. I did think he had better game than Johnson & Allen.

IMO he'll be gone back at end of season & if we want to push for champs league we have to have so much better than him.

I fail to understand all the **** Cissokho gets. He hasn't had the best start but neither did Sakho. Luckily Sakho's settled in fairly quickly and started bossing it, but some players take longer to adjust and settle in than others. Bearing in mind he's been injured aswell.
Personally I think if he wasn't on loan he'd have got stuck in a lot quicker, knowingly was here for the long haul.
Rome wasn't built in a day, but it wasn't built by the apprentice either.

Bearing in mind he's played like 4 games for us, I think he gets a lot of unnecessary crap. Same goes for Aspas. Some people would want us to sign a team of world beaters. Not gonna happen.

You'd think he'd be playing for a deal and with a point to prove - much like Moses.

They can't afford to not 'get stuck in'.

Look how long it took Hendo to get settled down and stuck in, even Lucas to an extent as well. Can't judge a player who's never played in the PL before now and has only played a handful of times since signing. Some players have a slow start then come in to their own, some have a boss start and start to fade. Gotta give him time.
