"I feel extremely proud to be here and I'm proud of all the hard work I've put in so far throughout my career," he said.
"I've always dreamt of one day signing for a really legendary club. I've been lucky enough to play for a few top sides and so to now get the chance to play for a club like Liverpool, it's just fantastic.
"I've always said, along with a lot of other French players, that I really love the English league, and although I've been fortunate enough to have played at some big clubs, in the back of my mind, I've always wanted to play in England.
"It's really pleasing when a club like Liverpool shows interest in you, and when that interest becomes more serious, you really can't wait for the move to go through. Now that the transfer has been completed, I'm really happy.
"I hope to feature in as many games as possible. I know it's going to be quite tough and I need to get to work as soon as possible as pre-season is over and we are into the league programme."
Cissokho has already played at Anfield in front of the Kop. He was part of the Lyon side that beat Rafael Benitez's Reds with a late 2-1 win in the Champions League group stage in October 2009.
The Frenchman has featured in the Champions League for three different clubs over the past four years - and he believes it's a competition that Liverpool must strive to be a part of in the years to come.
He said: "I was fortunate enough to play at Anfield and it was a really special occasion for me. I have some great memories of that night. Although it was us that grabbed the win, it still remains a good memory.
"We'd been preparing for that game for four or five days before, on the outskirts of Liverpool at a golf hotel in Formby and, of course, a game against Liverpool at Anfield was something special for myself and the whole team.
"Although we knew it was going to be tough, we managed to win, and so that made it an even bigger occasion for us, as did the special atmosphere of the crowd - so typical of England and especially Liverpool.
"The Champions League is a competition that you dream of taking part in and I think that a club like Liverpool richly deserves to be involved in it because of the quality of its players and the atmosphere and quality of its stadium.
"Champions League nights at Liverpool are the kind of games that are really special for the players in any away team coming to Anfield, and that's why Liverpool very much deserve to be a part of that competition." link
I'm happy with this signing, provides much needed challenge at a cheap price and with the chance to buy if a succes. He was really good untill about 1½ year ago where his form dropped, but let's hope he can regain what he showed early in his career and it could be a very clever piece of business.
Think the big reason we brought him in (and went after left back cover so much in this window) is the possessions lost statistic. Enrique, for all his defensive solidity and swashbucklig, squandered possession more frequently than any other player at Liverpool last season and much more than Cissokho did at Valencia. When we're trying to suffocate a team, Cissokho may not offer the ability to do things like the Suarez assist vs. Newcastle or the goal vs. Swansea, but he also won't be as silly as Enrique occasionally tends to be. As an added bonus, he (unlike Jose) tends to stick to the byline, which will help us offer width and be more natural when we go 3-5-2, as he's a more natural wingback. And he's aerially much stronger than Enrique, which is something we're lacking as a whole in the team.
I'm not sure he's actually any better as a complete package given how good Enrique is 1v1 and his aforementioned ability to create chances in the final third. But he's a different type of option to use in certain games, and gives us plenty of cover in the event of an injury and competition as well - which should, hopefully, force both of them to raise their games. And all of this is to say nothing on the (outside) possibility he recovers his Porto form.
It's a good move..lb cover/challenge was one of four/five positions I felt needed to be improved this season...maybe not an area we need/want a high profile signing or needed a high profile signing, no massive need to spend big there but something extra was needed
It's risk free, he will be keen to prove himself, Enrique now know he has to be on his A game to keep his spot...so win/win for us
Good luck and welcome Aly
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
Lets hope he can rediscover his best form and sign on a permanent basis
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Once again those pics make it look like him and a mate have broken in and set up a load of photos. On his own in all of them - where are other people! Feel sorry for the lad - no welcome that!
