Some of those have shown that they are good though. Pardew, Alladyce and Pulis have all shown they are good PL managers. Even Redknapp used to be good, if expensive and liable to run your club into the ground financially. Bruce tends to get promoted to the PL so it is hard to argue that he deserves his positions.

I used to really rate Lambert but his work at Villa has been pretty shocking.

Hughes was terrible at QPR but otherwise his record is pretty good, no?

Warnock is a fraud but in general I think the idea there is a cabal of managers appointed without looking at their records is out of date. In the last few seasons we have seem Koeman, van Gaal, Monk, Irvine, Carver, Pearson and Dyche introduced to the PL, and Pochettino is pretty new too.

There has always been little clusters of new names added, but it appears that when a young or young(ish) manager does not excel straight away that he vanishes from PL contention whereas a lot of the regular names could perform to a similar level , lose their job, and then be straight onto shortlists for the next PL job that comes up.


Would see Chris Hughton as an example of a manager who did no worse in his two stints at a PL club than many of the usual names that get recycled in jobs,yet he has had to go down the divisions to get work rather than just getting role after role in the manner that guys like Warnock and Hughes seem to be able to.

I dont get this bad reputation Mark Hughes has gotten. He did a Rotten job at QPR, but with Fulham and Stoke he has been pretty solid. Man City was so so, but his remit changed basically overnight and the writing was on the wall from the moment they got taken over.

His Stoke side now are alright, better manager than most on that list.
