Saw something earlier about the board getting the arse over him not spending enough money. Must be a first.
Brentford could make an announcement over Mark Warburton's future as soon as today after clear-the-air talks with owner Matthew Benham failed to defuse tensions on Monday.
Warburton and technical director Frank McParland met with senior Griffin Park figures on Monday in a bid to clarify their futures at the club after a week of uncertainty in west London.
But both are now expected to depart the club with only exit terms left to be negotiated.
Sources have indicated that Warburton's flirtation with the Norwich job helped contribute to rising tensions, as well as a reluctance from McParland to spend big in January, preferring to stay loyal to the squad that had taken Brentford to the top of the Championship.
Owner Benham had projected a mid-table finish for the Bees, but after finding the Griffin Park club topping the Championship table in January, the Brentford chairman was keen to bring in players and push for the Premier League - only to meet resistance from his director of football.
The club last week failed to deny reports that they were looking to replace Warburton when his 12-month rolling contract expires in June. Neither did they refute that they had begun talks with highly-rated Spanish coach Paco Jemez over his possible appointment.
Meanwhile Brentford's analytics staff had identified a handful of potential successors - including Jemez and French coach Fred Hantz - that have impressed on limited budgets on the continent.
However, this week Jemez himself has denied wanting to leave La Liga, "my English is very bad," he said, "I want to stay in Spain."
My nearest team is Brentford, rumour has it, the owner wanted to bring in a load of players including Spanish lads that the manager had never seen play. He wasn't interested. Hence he's off. The fans are gutted, have a real chance of going up and then this happens. Their form will drop off with a dead duck manager in charge.
