Why don't we just stop players heading the ball while we're at it as there has been plenty of scaremongering about the long term effects to that. If the club doctor thinks they are ok to stay on then there is no one more qualified to make that decision and that certainly includes the media hacks banging on about it.
The same medical staff that said he was OK to stay on decided it would be better if he didn't play today. Taking players off after they have clashed heads is one thing but if they get knocked out I don't see how a 30 second pitchside assessment of to see if they can correctly identify how many fingers are being held up or if their pupils follow pen movements is suitably sufficient.
