And Keown just suggested the ref will be more disappointed than the players
Like **** he will Martin. Swansea have fought from 2-0 down to be leading for a penalty to be wrongly awarded deep into injury time. I think they will be more disappointed than the ****ing ref.
The offside law is farcical if that was not offside from Newcastle.
Guy lifts his leg to let a shot from distance pass under his leg. That is clearly being involved in play by blocking the line of site of the goalkeeper

They've recently changed the law I think - interfering with play is now only when a player touches the ball.
They really need to stop redefining offside every year. If they want to change one rule to make the game more exciting - which is presumably what the offside rule changes are for as they inevitably seem to benefit the attacking team - then they should reintroduce the obstruction rule and instantly bring an end to this shielding nonsense
I agree re obstruction but the decisions don't always benefit the attacking team in offside changes- it used to be clear daylight, now it favours defenders more.
I don't agree really. I've seen lots of incidents where a defender has had to play/try to cut out a ball that is going to an attacked who would have previously been given offside but is now not because they have not touched the ball. The fail to cut it out and then we have this 'second phase' lark (it is clearly still the first passage of play but a touch from a defender seems to create a new one) and that player who was 4 yards ahead of the defender scores. Player cant let it go because the lino might miss it/not give it.
Massive disadvantage to the defender compared to a small disadvantage to attackers changing clear space to level - and as far as i can remember lear space was a change from level a few seasons previous anyway!
