Ramos is incredible. Can't ever remember a non set piece taking centre back doing something like this before. And certainly not with the constant importance of them!

Only one I can think of who played at the same level as Ramos is Fernando Hierro when he moved to the centre back position for Real Madrid.


Yeah he took set pieces and was lethal at them, but he popped up with a lot of goals from play too with many of them being important goals.


He was a fantastic player to watch be it as a midfielder or as a centre back. Wonderful skills and a hard ******* to boot.

To be fair, as **** as this generation of England squad is, it won't do any worse that the one that included Gerrerd, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, Ferdinand, Terry etc.

I actually quite like that England squad - other than the weakness out wide. Livermore is an odd selection, but I haven't watched much of West Brom this season and they have done pretty well.

Sterling and Alli are real talents. Lots of industry elsewhere. If you added Kane in then it would be a pretty dangerous side on paper.

Feels like a new team is finally coming out of the shadows of the Rooney/Terry era.

I think with a genuinely progressive manager to set the team out, there could be a good side there. One capable of competing for something.

I hope Southgate doesnt regress and rely on what he knows, but all signs seem to be that he wont at the moment. Shame Kane is out for this as I think itll be a good display of what we would have going forward.

Why the **** Defoe is there I dont get though, he is not the future. He wont be selected next Summer, so its a waste IMO.

These lists are always interesting to see and I wonder in 5 years which of them will have bombed. 2 Liverpool players in the list also.

I think there is a chance for Defoe, mostly due to a lack of alternatives. Also he scores in a team which doesn't have much possession which may be useful for England.

He also seems to genuinely want to play for England - I think getting the group right can be as important as having the best players.
