Mourinho teams always struggle first season, finish the year strongly in the league and the next year win the title. It has happened pretty much everywhere he has been.

He won the treble in his second season at Inter?? At Madrid he won the league in his second season, at Porto he won the League and Uefa cup in his second year. In his second year in the 2nd stint at chelsea he won the league.

Yeah he's had some good second seasons but you said he always struggles in the first which isn't really true. His 1st season Chelsea team was the best he's ever had. Won it in the 1st at Inter too. Any Mancs hanging their hopes on "crap in the 1st season will win it in the 2nd" will be disappointed.

In his first season at Chelsea they were excellent true but Inter walked the Serie A after calciopoli had the league on it's legs, and he has seemingly always done better in his second season, so there is definitely legs in the point.

Having said that, like you mentioned United fans pinning their hopes on it is probably not the wisest thinking, but as much as we hate him he has a great record and has won everywhere he has been.
