Looking at the Nigel Pearson situation at Watford, it seems a really odd one to me, he's got them 25 points from 20 games, ok their recent form hasn't been great but they looked certain to go down when he came in and he has got them to a position where they could stay up. But they aren't there yet, despite being 3 points clear of the drop (with a 4 goal GD better than Villa and Bournemouth), the 2 games they have left against are Man City and Arsenal. You could easily see them losing both of those games and their GD decreasing by 4 or more. Villa beating West Ham (or Arsenal) or Bournemouth beating Everton could be enough to send them down. I definitely wouldn't want the caretaker role in charge of them for the rest of the season
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I was thinking about it a little more and I wonder whether they've got rid now to avoid paying an 'avoid relegation' bonus. He was on a very short contract and might be cheaper to pay him off the wages due until December instead of the bonus if he was in charge at the end of the season and they were still in PL

I did wonder about that, but it's a ****ty thing to do if that's the case, keeping them up will have saved them millions of pounds as well as being in the PL, surely his bonus is peanuts in comparison. Also as I mentioned before they aren't safe yet (not that I think Pearson would have masterminded them to a win in any of their remaining games), I can only imagine that there has been some huge rift between him and the players but even so it's a very odd time to get rid.

Ballon d'or not being awarded this year because of coronavirus.

It's a weird thing to do in order to inspire other youngsters. I don't get it.
