Read my message mate, as i said if the bloke wasn't abusive to Oyston then Oyston is an idiot for doing this. Anybody being abusive for the sake of it is 100% wrong, however if he was merely answering like for like then that's fine by me. People (if it's the case) can't kick off then go crying because somebody answered them back, have we gone that soft???

In Owston apology he talks about how he shouldn't have used the words and shouldn't have taken the bait and shouldn't have to see text or hear voice mail messages from fans abusing his family.

Would agree with the gone soft comments. People goad people to a response and moan when they get one. Would be interesting to see what the fan sent and I bet on the recent twitter offensive communication prosecutions it would qualify

The Oyston case has always fascinated me. I know he was convicted by a jury of his peers, but he didn't half manage to piss off a lot of people with friends in high places.

I mean, exposing deals where developers get right to build huge caravan parks without a formal tender.

Or reporting on cases where one of those developers calls the leader of the council to get the name of a police chief to call to lessen the reporting exposure of the case where his daughter killed 2 pedestrians (the police officer was later sacked for reducing the charges against her). The guy who's daughter was involved just happened to be an campaign organiser for Thatcher.

The man who made the accusations to police had also been described by World In Action as a malicious man.




Recent news stories have shown us that Government Ministers at the time where prepared to cover up child abuse. For me at least, its not a leap of the imagination to think they would stitch up a rival.

The man that tipped off the police about Oyston was mates with 2 Tory backers. Oyston was a massive backer of the Labour Party under Kinnock.

The girl who Oyston was convicted of raping did not actually make her complaint prior to his arrest. And the judge allowed the prosecution to extend the time in which the offence was committed from a 3 month window to a 15 month window
