I actually find those terms odder. How often have you heard them used as reference to a demographic?

No but a child conjures up an image of someone much younger. I haven't seen the girl in question but what if she did look much older? Terming her as a child might lead to more negativity in the jury's mind?

He's confessed to grooming.

Only just being under age would only really be a factor if he'd slept with an underage groupy without bothering to check how old she was.

Grooming would imply he knew full well she was under age.

IMO anyways.

Was following that also - really vile how he took advantage of him being a hero to her - I'm not familiar with British law but surely he'll end up in jail for this if found guilty?

It's really unsettling reading how matter of fact it all was. How did he ever imagine he'd get away with it? I'm sure they will make an example off him as a warning to others in his position.

****ing hell, that's awful. I always assumed he thought she was 16? But he's actually admitting grooming a 15 year old kid

Surely, what's the law for otherwise? See above, if he genuinely thought her older there might be a case for something other than prison

Yeah, no excusing his behaviour. Appalling. Before the facts started coming out I thought it must have been a stupid one nighter where he didn't know how young she was.

I'd imagine if Rolf, Stuart Hall, Max Clifford et al budge up they can make room for a young fella. I'd say there is no way he gets off. It sends out a message that your money and profile will work in your favour when charged with such allegations. 15 is below the legal age, no excuses. He used his position to exploit someone below the age of consent and such be punished.

I'm still not convinced that he will be jailed.

Jailed for 27 months on appeal (originally suspended setnece) for multiple offences against multiple girls and offences including abduction. The youngest of the three victims only 13.

I don't actually see prison as necessary for his level of offending. His career is done. He'll probably have to sign the sex offenders register for 5-10 years. He'll be banned from working with children indefinitely. Yes he groomed her but he wasn't a violent offender and despite it being widely publisced no further girls have come forward so it appears he was not a serial offender.

Sentencing guidelines vary depending on the exact nature of the contact between offender and victim and the circumstance.

I would assume that he has plead guilty to catagorey 3 offending - kissing - and that the prosecution are going for at least catagorey 2 (sex act = hand job) or catagorey 1 (sex act = blow job)?

He ticks a few boxes on the culpability but hardly any on the aggrevating factors with a few mitigating factors applying from page 48.

More likely to go to jail if convicted of the offences he has plead not guilty to but on the guilty plea offence alone I can't see more than a suspended sentence.
