      This makes some interesting reading, regarding the amount of time the ball is in play and maybe the introduction of a 60 minute stop-clock would solve issues of time-wasting;

      BBC Article

      Stoke Imagine going to a game and there being less than 40 minutes of actual 'ball-in-play' time.

        like that article shows the good teams have the play in ball more, and the list of games with lowest minutes played aren't actually ones you want to extend.

        Fairly sure us vs City was more than 60 mins in play.

        Longer **** games, and shorter good games is not a solution.

          Surely you just need to be much stricter with time wasting offences. Players will stop if they get penalised.

              Works in most other sports...in fact football is the only team game that springs to mind without a fixed time? Must be others tho? Basketball, rugby, aussie rules, NFL...how about hadball or maybe water polo?

                They might do it more if they know they're not going to get yellow carded for it. Just to break up the flow of the game. I'd much rather players were penalised

                  They've been stopping the watch since football began, I'd like to know how the **** they derive their extra time minutes.

                    From memory, most of them were ok about it and applauded. It was just the rat Bernardo Silva who refused, standing there in his coat drinking his tea or whatever the **** it was...

                        What a kick in the balls to pretty much every country but 3 or 4.

                        ‘champions’ was already tenuous.

                          It's a necessity to fend off super leagues.

                          Rich owners get what they want. Newcastle will be in the mix next year.

                            But it basically is a super league by stealth...albeit not very stealthy

                              Basically gets the West Hams of this world to where they want to be at the expense of equally ambitions clubs from different Leagues.

                                It's exactly a super league only difference being that UEFA still get to call the shots .
