Mbappe at Real hasn’t been pulling up trees either. If it was announced we were signing him for £162m I’m not sure how many of us would think it was a good deal. Vini Jnr at £109.7m is a bargain in comparison.

Yeah, we are a bit… up and down. Mostly down. 4 or 5 excellent players and the rest… less good.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostBuzzo.....is the best team you can put out?
The kid who came on to play in goal in the first half was literally playing his first match in pro football

We are maybe in a similar position, we have really good talents or prospects all over the pitch, except across the defense, and that will probably hinder any real assault to replicate previous teams. The GK in our goal was our reserve really and we're missing our best striker and captain in Óskarsson.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Based on last night you are in a far better position than us!Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostWell that showed, for the GK I mean, poor bloke

Same for us in a way, we have a lack of quality at CB and RB.
I think our manager will begin to be under pressure. We should be doing better than the current run we are on. He always plays 5 at the back which is dull.Last edited by Buzzo; 07-06-25, 08:54 AM.Modifying post.

Our manager also plays 3 CB's, I have no faith whatsoever in it.I know about Leverkusen and Sporting but I think it's more difficult to maintain success with it and specially so with the national team where you have a limited pool of players.* The above is posted in my opinion. I agree. Obviously it depends on the players. I never played in a system with 3 but 442 is super simple and if it's easy, it's effective (if all the players are dialed into it).Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostOur manager also plays 3 CB's, I have no faith whatsoever in it.I know about Leverkusen and Sporting but I think it's more difficult to maintain success with it and specially so with the national team where you have a limited pool of players.
The thing with three at the back, who teaches it when they're kids? So it's new when they're pros. It's quite hard to explain, playing systems is like muscle memory.
Really hard to play a different system at international level to what players are used to at clubs but I can see managers playing to a squad's strength... for instance minnows like Scotland.

I think I'd rather see a rigid 442 at international level, than a three at the back, we're still trying to shoehorn Aron Gunnarsson (who was at Cardiff like 20 years ago) in the side at center back so we obviously don't have the players either.* The above is posted in my opinion.
