He improved a lot last season but that wouldn't have been hard. "Decent" is much more fitting for his career in England so far than "very good".

Sanchez we'll see about but describing yourself as "sick" he's signing there seems OTT to me, and I do remember similar comments after Ozil came in. I do agree they need a Sneiderlin, but Walcott as a centre forward... Let's hope Wenger does that because he's very hot & cold, but I don't think he will as he doesn't really trust him there. Overall I'm sure they'll be strong, they always are, but then most people would have had them way ahead of us at this time last year and look what happened.
No doubts struggled at the start but in that Newcastle defence Baresi would have struggled. He improved a hell of alot second half of the season & has become a regular in the new look France national side.

Believe it or not Debuchy has some of the best defensive stats of any RB in Europe. Obviously he has to defend more than other RB's at better sides but he does have impressive defensive stats nonetheless as regards blocks, interceptions, and tackles. I'm not saying he's Lillian Thuram or anything, nor is he good going forward but he is a solid RB & has shown massive improvement. 8 million quid only, not too bad.

I'm not "sick" Sanchez going there, i'm "sick" we missed out as he is a tremendous talent. Whether any player adapts to the premier league is up for debate every time but the fact being Sanchez is a hugely talented player that if we had of signed... every LFC would have been waxing lyrical about, including yourself.

Whether or not Debuchy succeeds or fails at Arsenal time will tell. I don't know what games you have been watching ,maybe you gave up watching him early in the season but the general consensus is that he has been impressive for Newcastle. I very much doubt Deschamps would have him a starter at the World Cup for France & Arsenal sign him as their No.1 if he's been dog****.

Anyways the stats very interesting, I was surprised myself. Hope he garbage btw

Sanchez is good, but he's been made out to be like the best player ever on here recently, which he isn't. Last summer Ozil and his trillion assists was supposed to catapult them forward but it didn't, not convinced these deals will do so either.

Now if they bought a quality striker rather than just having Giroud and Sanogo, then they might be worth worrying about...
I'm not a huge fan of Debuchy. Even when he played in the CL for Lille. Very aggressive in the challenge and often looks like a red card waiting to happen. Loses his head on the occasion too. He's a decent player overall, but isn't really exceptional in any department. I'd certainly be disappointed if we were in for him.

Alexis Sánchez snubs Liverpool as part of deal to offload Luis Suárez

                Tony Barrett

                Published 1 minute ago

Liverpool have conceded defeat in the battle to sign Alexis Sánchez, leaving the way clear for Arsenal and Juventus to contest the Chile winger’s signature despite a late bid by AC Milan.

Brendan Rodgers had hoped that Sánchez would be a makeweight in the deal that will take Luis Suárez to Barcelona, but the 25-year-old has informed Liverpool that, although he is flattered by their interest, he does not wish to move to Anfield.

Sánchez’s representatives are understood to have held discussions with AC Milan officials yesterday, but their client is known to favour Arsenal or Juventus as Barcelona prepare to sell him for a fee of about £32 million.

The former Udinese player’s decision to reject Liverpool will not prevent Suárez’s sale from proceeding, with Barcelona already committed to a straight cash deal worth about £75 million, a figure that is in keeping with the buyout clause in the forward’s contract.

Liverpool have agreed a payment structure with Barcelona for the transfer and the only hurdle to overcome is Suárez’s medical examination, which is expected to be a formality at the conclusion of the World Cup.

Preparations for Suárez’s arrival at the Nou Camp are continuing, although Andoni Zubizarreta, Barcelona’s sporting director, refused to admit publicly that the deal is all but rubber-stamped when questioned about the move yesterday.

“We are working towards building the best squad possible before the transfer window shuts and it’s positive that people [from Barcelona] are travelling [to complete deals], but it’s important that we only communicate official deals,” Zubizarreta said. “When we have reached one, we will announce it.”

Suárez has already been compared with Hristo Stoichkov, the controversial former Barcelona player, and the Bulgarian has warned Suárez that his reputation will precede him in Spain.

“I have read about the transfer,” Stoichkov said. “He seems a really good player to me, one of the best forwards, with the character required to play for the biggest clubs — but the bites are going to be a problem.

“He is marked for the rest of his life. To play at Barça with what he has done is a problem. Every opponent and the referees and the press will make his life difficult. He will have to play with provocation and media attention, which will leave him in permanent tension.

“I say to Luis Suárez that he should try and fix his problem. I know he has already worked on his aspect, and must keep doing it because at Barça he will have to live under pressure 24 hours a day and, of course, he cannot make that mistake again. Now, despite everything, he must be positive.”

Depends if they want to sell Vidal/Pogba in order to fund Sanchez. But doubt they'll be able to do it in time.

So Pearce it was players preference, and Sanchez wanted to live in capital. Damn London!!! It is a big selling point alright.

But he's not what they need.

Sanchez would have been a great signing but we move on, with £75m we have the finance to compete for just about any player we want, it's up to the scouts to identify that player and the club to sell their vision to the player. Rodgers is no mug, he'll have known as soon as the buy out clause was inserted that Suarez was off and I expect we have a list of replacements lined up for that eventuality
