It wouldn't surprise me if we had a deal agreed with him pre-medical - say the 5 year deal @ 110K per week - and that the medical showed up a degenerative condition so we wanted to renegotiate a shorter contract for less money, or totally cancel the deal. Perfectly fine by me.

It is all speculation of course, but if it is degenerative that would explain why we pulled out but he passed a medical for France for the World Cup. It'll be interesting to see how Remy gets on over the next few seasons.
