Not a great start. Doesn't offer us anything that Suarez did or even Sturridge so strange signing for me. Total opposite to the type of forward the team has been built on.
Brendan probably should have stuck to his original view in the matter.
There's more than one side to his play though. He started that match well, holding up the ball, laying it off, making runs. As the match went on and things got tough he just went into himself, trying to dribble through three players at once, shooting from miles away when there were runners out on either side.
Which player are we talking about here? He has skill and talent but his mental rigour is awful, too easily swayed. When the team's playing well he's up and about like a springer spaniel. When things are hard he takes his ball home. Top players don't do that.
Played in just about everyone else's position but his own. Got in everyone's way and made sure we lost possession as often as possible. Oh yeah and one class freekick. Not a fair deal.
Even Danny wellbeck scored a hat-trick. Same money. Oh how we laughed at that!
There were howls of laughter, but he'd suit our game a whole lot better than Mario. He'd still be **** like, but he wouldn't make the team play the dirgey football we are at the moment.
