Then Rodgers started talking about a "marquee signing", didn't really find one and so seemed to just go for Balotelli for no other reason that that he was 'cheap' for someone so famous. Meanwhile smaller clubs like Southampton and West Ham dig out hidden gems the way we should be doing. Extremely depressing.

Yeah I'd go along with that. He was pretty adamant about it. There's no chance he was first choice so in the end it came down to him or nobody so we took a punt. Nobody looks the better option right now. I'd give Lambert a run of games now if I'm honest. Give him the chance to get up to match speed and see what he can do for us. He can't be any worse.
