AC Milan Decline Permanent Balotelli Deal

The Italian striker will go from surplus goods in Milan to surplus goods on Merseyside unless the Reds can find a buyer over the summer.

The writing might have been on the wall for quite some time, but AC Milan have now made it official: they won't be seeking a permanent deal for Liverpool loanee Mario Balotelli.

The 25-year-old striker only managed to find the back of the net once in 20 Serie A appearances (12 of which were as a substitute), as Milan struggled to a 7th place league finish. Despite Balotelli's public statements about wanting to stick around Milan, the club president made it clear he would not.

"Balotelli's contract with us has expired and there are going to be many players leaving us," AC Milan's president Silvio Berlusconi explained. "Players like Alex, Mexes, Boateng and Balotelli are all out of contract and there will be others released too."

If Balotelli didn't get much of a shot at Milan, things don't appear brighter at Anfield. Prior to taking the Liverpool job Jürgen Klopp shared his feelings about Balotelli and some of his notorious antics. Those feelings were not overly positive to say the least, going as far as saying, "[Players who acted like Balotelli did at Manchester City] would never wear this club's shirt again."

Presumably Liverpool will now look to the Chinese Super League to find a suitable buyer, as neither the club nor player seem interested in giving it another go.

The only good thing that can come out of this is that the transfer committee is scrapped and never to be seen again. I Hope Klopp has full control, all that should be beyond his control is budget not including sales.

Mario is a great big Man-boy, a child stuck in an adults body.

He needs a father figure, a nurturer to help guide him along. Could Klopp work with the grade A dolt and get him back to his best. He seems like the kind of player that needs to be loved, and hugged.

There is no doubt that Balotelli has raw talent but so far few have been able to expose this talent consistently.

I get the impression that as an adopted kid, he seeks security and needs love and boundaries in order to flourish.

I maybe wrong, but I think Klopps man management could reap benefits with Balotelli. He is still young-ish.

some kids dont mature until they are in their late twenties. right now he is on the books of Liverpool.

Give Klopp a chance to see what he can do.

Sorry there is no hope for Mario and he isn't half as talented as he thinks he is, China is the only place for him so he can score about 15 goals a year and think he is a star!

your post has obviously took some time and thought to structure and make a valid claim that there may be something worth saving with this lad and its been a worthy attempt.

while we should always do all we can to fully nurture our blossoming talent it should also be noted that we need to not spoil the rest of the apples to try and save the one rotter.

we are not some sort of rehabilitation unit for petulant angry ******s who think the universe revolves around them so we need to **** this blurt off at the earliest opportunity.

Yeah, fair play, it was a good effort but i don't think the club have any more patience with him and I doubt Klopp is looking to adopt a man child when he can go and buy a striker who hasn't looked crap for years.

Klopp will simply say why would I spend an inordinate amount of time on one player when I'm threading a new squad together.

                                There's always that as well.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
