We better be getting a pretty special striker or two, given Sturridge is on the road to retirement and the other options are Championship level. Its so clear that the lack of goals destroyed the season, I've never seen LFC looking so weak up front as this one.

Aye we definitely wanted him alright, unfortunately I doubt we were ever a realistic option for him and our name was used to draw other clubs into the bidding. Van Gaal saying the reason he had to sign Depay now, was because he thought Depay might sign for PSG.

I know missing out on players sucks. But I really dont think its a new thing specific to FSG and Ayre.

Before Twitter and the like (roughly 7 years ago maybe?) We were way more in the dark and these bits and bobs were only trickled out in the papers. So players like Depay might have been mentioned a couple of times, thats about it.

Trouble now is that everything is seized on by people and then in turn spoken about as fact.

i have said the same thing myself a number of times to people,after all its not as if we have signed every player we ever went for or was linked with in our history its just now everything is in the media one way or the other.of the top of my head we missed out on charlie nicolas,gary pallister,tim flowers,steve bruce and i think we was once linked with alan simonson.
