Yep, although tbh, i'd still have them as favs over us without the Januzaj offer.

Famous Dutch manager at a club like them in the CL is bound to appeal to a young dutch talent, no ?

I understand the theory that 'he may want to play more games' etc, but in reality how many sought after young players really choose that option these days.

I've heard that we have offered to back off this deal if Utd stay away from Ings, we don't want a bidding war to get him. Sound business acumen.
Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

I don't think he'll come. Sterling told him Depay is crap.

Perhaps he is not a fan of LVG? Wouldn't be the first guy to hate that prick ..

According to Tony Barrett, we have but talks on hold with Depay until we find a striker. If true then ridiculous.

                  Ayre strikes again!

In response to "So @JamesPearceEcho saying we've made an offer for Depay while @TonyBarretTimes saying deal is on hold till we sign a striker."

So we're in talks with Depay and looking to line up a deal that he is willing to accept. In the background, we will look to secure a striker which has been given priority. If, during negotiations for a striker, the transfer fee increases (for the striker) and impacts the funds available (for Depay), we will step away from the Depay deal. I guess it may depend on player sales too and whether further funds could be generated that way.

I think it's purely a business decision due to us not having unlimited funds. I'm sure this has gone on since football was invented in 1992 and is probably the norm. Hopefully, if we can sell Allen for £35m we can afford to get both. I guess the interesting thing to come out of that Tweet is what striker is it that we are after.

Surely the Welsh Xavi is worth more than that ?

i think the whole thing is horse****...... these "journalists" are just horse**** con-merchants, making random ****e up. If you make up enough crap, some of it will eventually be correct. A stopped clock is right twice a day.

There is no way that we would bring the deal to the point of completion - where we just need to press the button on the thing - only to say "actually we will come back to you". It is absurd to even suggest that.

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

I'm guessing we end up with either, never put a deal on hold IMO - we are just playing with fire here. But the good news is that the striker can hardly be Ings.

I say buy him now then loan him to a club for a year when we could really do with him.

In all seriousness I'd love us to stick with a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 and get Depay, a powerful midfielder and another striker in. We'd have plenty of options for that. I reckon Markovic and Ibe could both find their feet in that formation and the former one seems ideal to our players.

                                - - - - - -Sturridge
                                Depay - - Coutinho - - Markovic

                                - - - - - - Origi
                                Sterling - - Lallana - - Ibe

With a new striker as well and Origi can play in the wide postitions as well, I think this is what we should aim for.
