Memphis Depay: Manchester United sign Dutch forward

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Dutch forward Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven.
The fee is believed to be in the region of £25-30m and the player will have a medical in Manchester next week.
Subject to this being passed, the 21-year-old will join United once the transfer window opens in June.
Depay scored 21 goals as PSV won the Dutch title this season and played under United manager Louis van Gaal during his time as Netherlands boss.

Possibly but we've been courting him for over a year. You'd think he'd have told us before or we'd think to get him signed up before they get involved.

It doesn't seem to be in his interest to tell us (at least until he has a firm offer). Perhaps he's been stringing us along but I don't really see it as a big issue. Or at least I don't see that we can know that we didn't do the best we could. The player has all the power in this situation.

What does courting in this context mean? If we really wanted him for that long why not buy him rather than Balotelli? My suspicion is that people are rather over emphasizing the effort we have put in on this deal.

Suppose we're at a disadvantage from the start really, we can scout and watch as many players as we like, truth is; if they're good enough and highly rated another club usually comes in and buys them when the time comes for them to move, or we make a bid.

It's just so frustrating - Iain Ayre or whoever leaks all of this information to the journos about how Depay isn't bothered about us being in the CL, about how Depay was really impressed with what we saw....
