Liverpool Close to Finalising €22m Deal for Real Madrid's Asier Illarramendi
Liverpool have upped their offer for Asier Illarramnedi to*€22m and, according to Spanish media source*MARCA, it will be enough to bring the Spanish international to Merseyside.
The Reds have been tracking the Real Madrid midfielder for a number of months now, but their initial bid of*€15m was immediately rejected by the La Liga side. Real are hoping to recoup as much of the*€32m that they paid for Illarra, when they signed him from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2013.

However, it now seems that Liverpool's latest offer of*€22m will be sufficient and*the*25-year-old*may soon be on his way to Melwood*to discuss personal terms.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has already made three signings so far; bringing in both James Milner and*Danny Ings on free transfers from Manchester City and Burnley respectively, as well as the capture of young Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez. Yet, the potential arrival of Illarramendi would represent their first big money move of the summer.
With Steven Gerrard moving to the MLS and the likes of Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen failing to overly*impress*last campaign, it is hardly*surprising*that Rodgers wants to bring in an established holding*midfielder to fill*the*void.
Illarramanedi was considered a huge talent when he left Sociedad for the Spanish capital a couple of years ago, but he*has*been unable to break into the first team, finding himself*behind Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira in*the*pecking*order.

A move to the Premier League with Liverpool would be*the*perfect opportunity for the Spanish*international to reignite his career, but the final decision will be left with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who is now in charge of Los Blancos, as to whether Illarra has a part to play for his side next season.*
