In total it could be 17 games for us to win this thing. As opposed to 6 for the FA cup. West Ham could have played 23! It just feels too bloated.
I agree it is far too many games, the group stage IMO is a nonsense, I don't think it really works in the CL anymore and I don't think it ever really worked in the Europa League.

My strategy at this point would be to play a second 11 in the competition at the very least through the group stages and then evaluate the clubs position from there. We should be able to put a fairly strong team out something like:

    --------Bogdan---------
    Ilori Toure Sakho Moreno
    -----Allen-- Can--------
    Ibe-------------- Lallana
    -----Ings---Origi--------

Or whoever isn't in the first team at the time, that should give them game time and a chance to get back into contention.

While it is somewhat of a distraction, if we are hoping to make the CL next season it would be good if we could boost our coefficient, but also the players and manager need to be able to deal with 2 games a week.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Obviously not no but I wanted to go to Dortmund or Amsterdam, not Kazan.

Spurs have Monaco and Anderlecht. Could be a tough group for them.

Isn't that who Fowler scored that amazing goal against when he flicked it over the defenders head with his heel?

Not a bad draw, hopefully Brendan will grow some European wings and actually do something in that group.

I thought that was Brann Bergen?

FC Sion were walloped by Aberdeen in the 1983 ECWC run 11-1 on aggregate. Obviously a valid comparison, with it only being 32 years ago.

I think Sion were the side we had a 6-3 game against

We've never played Kazan. But we have won all 4 games between the other 2. Good draw imho.
