Unfortunately I don't think this is going to happen. I know the media have reported 50m Euro as the asking price but what I heard and posted here early was that SD want £50m and are standing firm. I'm not sure even £38m would do it. I know some people are saying why don't we pay over the odds like we've done in the past but apparently Klopp doesn't want to pay over the odds. I have heard we have a back up if this falls through, just praying it's not Shane Long!

up until a couple a weeks ago he wasnt on anyones radar and now all of a sudden hes our saviour and we must complete this deal ? come on FFS yes he's decent but is he what we really need ?

he plays across the front line but his best position is as a 10 - he isnt a striker (although he can play there too) and we already have a very good number 10 in firmino. Im all for buying good players but is he really worth that sort of money ?

Even if we had put £38m on the table they would have increased it to £50m. You just cant win with these guys. whenever you deal with any club from the old USSR you always get shafted.

this is the exact same deal as the konoplyanka one whereby we cant get the deal sorted but when the player is available in the summer we dont want to know. If we were desperate for konoplyanka why didnt we pick him up on a free 6 months later ?

If we dont get this guy (which we wont) then klopp will get someone else better in the summer - and for now we need to work on getting more from what we already have.

yeah I know mate, Shaktar are notoriously difficult to deal with. It just galls me that we can be so careless with money time and time again on the wrong players. Blatantly over paying on average or above average players. Downing, Carroll, Hendo (I like lesser extent but still overpaid), Lallana, Balo, Lovren, Benteke etc when we could be careless with money on players that could potentially take us where we want to go.

It's a **** league alright but he hasn't looked out of place in the champs league. It's ridiculous money they want but sure with these gangsters it was always going to be silly money. He could potentially be a failure but IMO I would much rather gamble on him rather than those players mentioned above. He does look a very exciting and talented guy who could lift the club.

I just feel that we are scared ****less to spend big because of our previous flawed transfer policy & the reason why I feel we should just pay the money is because IMO 4th place is still there for us.. aswell as the cups. The league is all over the place, teams will continue to be inconsistent & I would love us to take a gamble on his talent to try get us to where we want to be.

But yeah there's no getting away from that ridiculous price

Agree with a lot of this but again I keep coming back to paying £32m for Benteke and if you can pay that for him it almost justifies spending ridiculous amounts of money on other players

If its £50m now then chances are it wont be any lower come the summer (in fact it might be more)

Suarez was a bit tainted after biting a player and that handball incident at the WC 2010, most knew then he was quality player though, he wasn't an unearthed gem.

£50m. can get us Gotze or Reus plus someone else. I really like the look of Teixeira though but I can understand this being too much, I thought 38 was much but a risk worth taking.
