I'm illustrating the basic point that you play to the whistle, NOT the flag which is and always has been information for the referee.Like blood on ironComment

Look, I'm not trying to piss you off (apologies) but this really does seem to be the epitome of arguing for the sake of arguing.
It's literally the rules of the game.Oh I don't know.Comment

I'm saying that the decision in the PL to instruct linesman to wave for offside but to allow the game to continue is daft. The flag benefits nobody, but can confuse and distract other, so play to the whistle or not, this specific interpretation of the VAR rules makes no sense. In the CL, no flag and play on, VAR resolves and issues, more more logical.
It wasn't really an 'argument' until you accused me of being 'a parody of myself' for it.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 yearsComment

If we're going back to basics, is it better to have a guy stood on the touch line waving a flag around for no purpose whatsoever during attacking play, or is it better not to have someone doing that?
Previously, there was a point to the linesman doing it, now there is none.

I dunno. The whole thing is daft if you look at it objectively enough.I'm saying that the decision in the PL to instruct linesman to wave for offside but to allow the game to continue is daft. But I get where we are we with it, it needs refinement.
It's also worth bearing in mind that ultimately the same rules need to be applied to the world cup, premier league and Sunday league in the park, regardless of the presence of VAR. So it's always gonna be a munging of fish and fowl to an extent.Oh I don't know.Comment

. For almost forever, the linesman waving for offside meant the game was stopped for offside.
