Went to watch my other side today, we had a player sent off on 2 yellows, loads of action, a disallowed goal but it didn't matter a ****. VAR has taken a lot of the fun out of watching Liverpool away

VAR exists to protect the refs.

There's already one former VAR official admitted as much.

If there was any integrity in football then this incident should lead to a major overhaul of VAR or at least transparency in the VAR process. For me that should be discussion between the ref and VAR official being broadcast to the stadium and TV audience live to show accountability.

As it is hard to estimate how damaging this should be to the current VAR system and it's use.

I think the reality of the situation we all know is sadly nothing will change.

Everyone knows football should have adopted the rugby system, and I remain convinced that the reason it didn't is the arrogance and ego of those running football who I think believe it impossible that another sport could do things better than them.

Just read this on the BBC, in the first 3 months of last season VAR had made 12 errors

"In December last year, an independent panel found that video assistant referees had made six incorrect interventions by that stage of the 2022-23 season, and had missed another six where they should have stepped in."

I think all PL managers need to release a joint statement to denounce the recent poor VAR decisions and drop in officiating standards.

Sure some clubs have benefitted like Spurs last night but it could happen to them next time and it might cost them dearly.

I'd be surprised if there's not already behind the scenes talks taking place regarding this.

If referees and their assistants are jaunting out to the Middle East for 20k a game. I think it's fair to assume the integrity of the game, which we've suspected as such for a long time, is well and truly compromised. What's the point if the game isn't fair.
