        They’re fuming with Pep....

They’re also (obviously) fuming with the ref:

Great to see they’re fuming with eachother (great comebacks btw):

But the award goes to...... fuming with de bruyne for going off after breaking his nose and cheek!!
        I don't tip

It’s absolutely fair to question Guardiola’s true ability. Amazing success at Barca with possibly the greatest collection of players in football history. Won the league with Bayern, but who doesn’t?, but fluffed the CL. League titles in England with a blank chequebook and two first teams, and fluffed the CL again.

Turning us into a title and CL winning side represents a bigger achievement than anything Pep has done in the last decade.

I think if they had another manager they'd have won the CL already and probably missed out on the title to us 2 years ago when it was 97/98 points.

Their bench last night tells you everything about why they won the League. But the true test of the CL will continue to allude them.

Weren't Bayern Munich CL holders when Guardiola moved there as well, so for all his grand achievements he arguably didn't recreate the success of his predecessor
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

They won the treble the year before he joined.

And they've won it again since he left

His Barca side were also Euro champs under Rijkaard the year before he took over and he inherited Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol, Pique, Eto'o etc. all in their prime and Messi who was exploding onto the scene as the best player in the world in the next few years.

Only takes on the easiest gigs with success guaranteed. No way would he take over a Dortmund, Leipzig, Lyon, Monaco, Leicester, Sevilla, Napoli, Atalanta etc.

Not winning the CL at either Bayern or City is a major failure.

Good post and you’re right, I’d like to see some of these managers take risks in their prime, not when they’re washed up looking for a final payday

Same goes for players, Messi never followed in Maradona's footsteps to seal his legacy and now it's too late.

Pep is the Messi of football managers. He's produced the best team I have ever seen but he's never left his comfort zone. And once you're used to that zone you can't operate in harsher ones.
                              One tit for another.

I think there's a fair amount of revisionism going on in this thread.

His achievements at Barca were fantastic. The best footballing side i've ever seen.

He didn't walk into that job and the team was there. A lot of the older, established players were eased out by Pep.

The work he did with Messi arguably turned him into an exceptional player to the best there's ever been.

No argument that his time at both Citeh and Bayern have been relative failures but it doesn't mean we re-write history and **** all over his Barca tenure.
