Better players in the Gerrard era more quality in the first eleven but this is the first squad I can remember since euro 96 where they are all in it together and no splits. Credit to Southgate for that and creating that culture at international level it makes a massive difference.

Sterling was MOM for me. Just his shooting was off.

If the officials can't see a second ball within a few feet of play, they're hardly likely to spot that to be fair

Nah, but it's a dick move isn't it? It didn't make any difference at all, but imagine being at any game, with a laser pen prepared to do that.

This guy has to start. He was so composed when he came on and settled England down.

Can see Italy running rings around Rice and Phillips. Denmark were for about 30 mins. Hendo has the big game experience that could be so important for England.

The final is an entirely different matter.
Yip Denmark were ****ed. They used 5 subs in normal time and were still hanging on. I thought England would score a winner when I saw them add 6 mins on.

                      Will be a good final

Time for some A-grade Italian ****housery in the final.

1-0 early on, then shut up shop do absolutely nothing but defend for 80 minutes and let Chiellini and Bonnuci go full Italian on Kane and Sterling and any of the other divers in the squad. Then with England making one last push in stoppage time, fans screaming their lungs out, face paint running down their cheeks from stress sweat, Italy hit them on the break and rip their hearts out of their chests.

                        Its written.

Also, how is it that England have played all bar 1 game at Wembley??

Every other side has had to travel all over the place FFS.

They won the semis and final years ago. Wembley got awarded more because of countries not being able to use their grounds because of covid issues.

Plus obviously winning the group helped in that regard for England too.

Italy played all their group games at home I think. So did Spain.

                                Aye....think Denmark did as well.
Certainly a factor. Frankly I think it was an obvious advantage for all these teams, but then it also at least added to the atmosphere of certain games. Something sorely lacking from football right now.
Probably ill thought out though all in all, from a fairness perspective.

England were extremely fortunate in that regard, in that they also got the bonus of the Germany game at home which would have been played elsewhere. Different group finish might have changed that, dunno for certain.
