Hope Ireland don't get wales in the playoff as it would be much more interesting to see both get to the world cup

Tempted to go to the play off semi final if there is decent beer there!!!


International football has been ****in ****e for years but this break seems to have reversed that. Obviously the fact that we (Ireland.....but same true for welsh and Scottish fans) played well and got good results will mean that the interest levels have increased but I wonder is there an aspect that club football is undergoing a death by a thousand cuts too? The premier league "product" has progressively been getting worse and worse in my opinion - with PMGOLs incompetence using VAR, **** referees and, the stop-start nature of the games being key. I prefer to watch champions league games.

European games are no oasis from bad VAR and **** refs though.

We see all the same issues in the CL, Europa League, etc

Go watch Cork City FC games. Is not like you are a million miles away. Every season is a roller coaster ride one way or another.

Take this season, relegated and got to a cup final and next season there is a good chance of winning the league and being promoted again.

And there is a spurious LFC link what with Kelleher's brother playing for us at CB.


Hell we even have a little Ultras section that makes a decent bit of noise every game.

I’ve been musing on this a bit also. I am starting to feel that the toxic nature of the spectacle and support of the PL allied to the fact it is all underpinned by multi million pound transfers and extortionate finance deals has left the entire product slightly sterile.

This allies to a post Champions come down and the events that came after it (that maniac driving into crowds, then the Jota tragedy) has left me feeling slightly disenfranchised this season. Throw in the footy has been a bit turgid - it’s been like climbing a mountain that took us 20 odd years (with the 2020 win thrown in) and then having to start again within months.

We are spoilt supporting such a storied team but with that comes the fact that anything v short of continued success feels like failure.

Luckily I wasn't anywhere near where it happened, but the twist for me was I used to work with the guy who did the running over - I couldn't get my head around it.

Bookending the summer with Diogo Jota and his brother dying - those lads were ages with my sons - it knocked the wind out of me. Then there's the horrible nature of fandom now, idiots equating "them scousers" booing a ****ing regent / national song with disrespecting a family's grief by booing during a silence, I just felt like I wanted to tap out.

Even the Isak thing transfer situation felt grubby, as did the Trent scenario.

That said, seeing Andy Robertson (STILL my favourite LFC player) open up like that post match for Scotland, and seeing the tempered elation in him, it brought a bit of why I used to be less cynical about it all back.

United v Everton is obviously a match where we want both to lose but a close second would be a fight between teammates leading to a sending off. Idrissa Gueye sent off for slapping Michael Keane. Had to be wrestled off the pitch by Pickford and N’Doye. Very funny. Everton leading at half time though

Just watched that. Wtf was he doing? He and Keane got in each others way a bit which led to a utd shot, but it was pretty innocuous, then he gets in Keane's face and slaps him All that after 12 mins of the game.
