The real problem is the FA, it needs completely overhauled.

I think the problem is that International football is now at a lower level than top class club football, it's obvious from watching alot of the games at the Euros.

The other thing with managers is that it's a different skillset for international football than club football. The amount of coaching and developing players you do is almost non-existent, the players are already developed, it is about knowing how to use them, you need to have a system that works with most of the players you have, if players don't suit the system don't pick them. Pick players that will work together and get the best out of each other. For a long time England has just thought that we should stick our best 11 players out and that will be enough to win us the game. Fair enough it works against the lower ranked teams but Southgate's record against top teams is fairly poor and if you want win trophies those are the teams you have to beat, to do that you need to function as a team.

Southgate did well with the U21s so might be more of a mentor or a coach than a manager in my view

The last decent manager that England did well with was Terry Venables. The FA should have left him in there for the World Cup in France...he would have won that.
