Thanjk you.

The midfield looks lacking in numbers only really Henderson, Dier, Alli and Loftus-cheek who are actually midfielders, I guess he could play Delph or TAA there but neither have been playing there all season.
Also what is the need for 6 fullbacks, Ok as mentioned above some could play elsewhere, but surely you pick 2 specialist players for each position and you probably have one or two utility players in there anyway.
To me the squad looks unbalanced it seems like he as picked too many 'Jack of all trades' players. In a way I feel sorry for him because the pool of players is fairly limited and truth be told there is no-one left out who you really feel would make much of a difference. I wonder if this is supposed to be one for the future rather than this world cup because it is fairly young. But I don't imagine any top sides will be having nightmares about facing this side.
Southgate needs to build a team greater than the sum of its parts, there aren't too many stars in there. I guess we just have to see if he can do it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Same old, same old - A few spring to mind that could have made a difference, Shelvey, Ward Prowse, Antonio , Lallana even Redmond.

I'd maybe have taken Lallana and shelvey at the expense of one or two of the utility fullbacks. Lallana would have been in if he were fit. He is the one player proven at that level that could have improved things. Shelvey is a different type of player which is why I would have considered taking him but swapping him in doesn't have much effect on the overall quality of the squad. To be honest most of the players in contention are uninspiring 'meh' players. I don't think England have a world class player.

Just strikes me as giving some different names for the sake of it.
I think im alone in thinking this might be one of the best England sides in about 10 years (2002 WC being the previous peak probably)
Its more like a club side than its ever been. Less superstars, but I dont think anyone really wants that.
Think we will do well.
I think the one hope is without too many stars and hopefully egos Southgate can make a side which is greater than the sum of its parts by working as a team. That really is the best hope because there is no-one to bail them out with a moment of magic.

Stones, Walker, Delph and Sterling all started and played a lot in a Man City team that just broke 100 Premier League points. Henderson we know. Kane and Vardy scored 50 goals between them. Add in Sterling with another 18.
Taking club loyalties aside now, I think there is goals and a good attacking threat in this England team. I worry about the defence though. Id have probably just tried to plonk in the Burnley defence plus one other.
Southgate has shown he has got more ideas beyond the normal boring England style of play too. He might not be Pep or Klopp. But at least he isnt Sam Allerdyce.
Worst England squad I can ever remember, they are going to do very well to even get out of the group
They might just about manage to get out but will come unstuck against a decent side in the knockouts. Absolutely no doubt about it imo. There's not even that sense of pieces falling into place a la Leicester, Greece, Denmark etc...
Also, another thing that has me slightly perplexed, since when did Southgate become permanent England manager? I thought he was just interim while they find a proven manager? Must've missed that that bit of news....
