I can't quite figure out why I ****in hate Brazil so much now. Even when they play cool football I just think they're showpony ******s. It bothers me because as a kid I was mesmerised by them. The World Cup meant "The Brazilians are coming!" and that meant joyous flamboyant football and odd names and just total excitement.
I thought when Germany walloped them 7-1 that my schadenfreude had reached it's peak because I couldn't stand they way they held up Neymar's jersey before the match and all that. Maybe it's still Neymar is the problem given that he is such a platinum grade ****pig or the fact that they're all these ****in right wing evangelical Bolsonaro lovers. Like wtf? But that's me bringing religion and politics into football where I suppose I shouldn't. Whatever it is, my instinctive emotional response to Brazil is intense dislike and it's not going away.
Yeah they used to be full of easy to love players, full of flair and playing with a smile on their faces like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos etc.
Now you have easy to hate players like Neymar and Richarlson. Full of snarls and attitude. Arrogance without the brilliance to justify it.
There really is no comparison.
I do think right no there are no national teams that are a joy to watch. Argentina and Brazil are really nothing special anymore. Germany and Spain are also not what they were. Uruguay have well and truly peaked. France always have talent but there is no Zidane or Henry (and Mbappe is basically their Neymar).
I don't think the international game has ever been less interesting than it is right now.
Absolutely chopped him haha! I'm Welsh and even I'll admit we're ****e.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.
