Nobody at work has been talking about it today, which is in stark contrast to the Monday after a round of Premier League fixtures!

I didn't even realise there was an England game today until after half time. That's pretty unusual for a World Cup.

I think I'd be more aware if I hadn't deleted my Twitter a few weeks ago.

I think that just shows how awful the rankings are. Iran are utterly garbage and the USA finished 3rd behind Canada and Mexico in their group, and only avoided a play-off by having a better GD that Costa Rica. For both of them to be in the top 20 is shocking. To be honest I'm amazed Wales are. England are probably half a dozen places higher than they should be

I can imagine that you only see any reference to Wales on the Daily Mail website

I certainly don't see references to them as winning qualifying groups

The majority of teams in the world cup didn't win their qualifying groups

Thought he played well in the second half befor his knock. This might explain the subdued 1st half. Boy did well considering.

Wales didn't win their qualifying group for Euro 2020 either. They didn't qualify for WC 2018. That had a decent run to the semi's in Euro 2016 but didn't win the qualifying group then either - and the weighting for ranking points decreases the further back you go. The rankings are laughable Iran are a top 20 team in the world? England 5th best? England are barely 5th best team in Western Europe never mind the world.

The whole armband debacle was so predictable. Reeked of footballers just virtue signalling and as soon as they were warned about it, see ya later armbands, see you later outrage.

If all these players wanted to really do something about it, they should have refused to go in the first place, same as all the pundits. Say this and say that but do absolutely nothing about it... like most of us.

Not only was it a chance to do the right thing, it was also an opportunity to weaken the grip FIFA has on the sport. All for a yellow card?? If they were really bothered they could have had some of the coaching staff wear it.

I wonder if the deal is shut up Europe and you can have the 2030 WC, time will tell.

Not only did she wear the armband, she stood right on the pitch with it keeping the armband facing the camera at all times, and watching the video of it back today she defo gave another two fingers to the regime over there as she wore a top that rose up a bit to show a little bare midriff as she spoke.

There is talk going around that she was asked to have her tattoo of a set of rosary beads covered up as well. If that is true, you can see her reply to that request clearly in the pic above.

As if often the case in life, it is no shock that the person showing the most balls turns out to be a woman.

Yep him, his teammates and their families could face very real and very harsh punishments when they return to Iran.

The likes of them making a stand that could have serious consequences and the likes of Alex Scott as a woman doing what she did on Qatari soil.

Then we have Harry Kane and the captains and players of the other big European teams unwilling to risk a yellow card and a fine to the FAs of those countries. All the big talk beforehand of how the armband would be worn. The slightest pressure and they all fold.

What was to stop England, Wales and the other European countries all coming out with every single player and manager wearing the armbands nd doing so in every game? Are the refs going to yellow card every single one of them? If they refuse to take off the armbands after the yellow card are the refs going to red card every body and have to call off every game a European team is in?

They all just folded. Lots of big talk about human rights and how they would be highlighting them. The threat of a yellow card and some fines and human rights can go get stuffed.

I'm sure the likes of Che Neville is leading the charge though for human rights and speaking out against the lack of them in Qatar a as he promised to do.

Bet guys like Shearer and Richard have kept quiet too. Commenting on Qatar might open them up to being questioned about who owns Newcastle and Man City.

The Iranian players and Alex Scott. All followed through on what they said they would do.
