realistically, you'd only need one decent player like gerrard/fowler etc to come through to make it worth while

Rafa is building up the academy after Houllier made his best to destroy it. Give him some time and one or two players from there will make the step up.

Plus its a Liverpool FC academy not a Scouser FC academy so surely filling it with good young players is its role ala Arsenal no matter where they come from.
